Our 1st Schools for Peace Summit 2019

On 20th July 2019 we hosted the inaugural Schools for Peace Summit in Jinja District. The summit was aimed at building the leadership skills for NVP Peace club student’s leaders and Teachers/Patrons in order to propel the nonviolent schools movement across Uganda in addition to creating a networking space amongst our partner schools pursuing a common goal.


The leadership training was facilitated by NVP Master Trainers in collaboration with Uganda Police and Government of Uganda officials. The event was crowned by the Representative of the President in the Jinja Area, RDC Eric Sakwa who greatly commended the work of The Non-Violence Project in reducing school violence and he pledged positive collaboration.


The summit was attended by 400 delegates from 23 schools under the theme; Becoming a Positive Change Agent. The students also presented Songs, Poems and Drama illustrating issues of Violence, Gender equality and Rights of Children. NVP Uganda awarded gifts and Certificates of Recognition to Patrons/Teachers for their tremendous in coordination and delivering Schools for Peace program in their respective schools.
