Our Projects 

1. Schools for Peace  empowers students, teachers and school administration to prevent and manage schools related violence. We also leverage the power of sports, music and art to mobilize and sensitize young people on violence, drug abuse and life skills. Our curriculum cover self esteem, conflict management and nonviolence.                                                                                                                                                  

2. Entrepreneurship for Peace promoted entrepreneurship as a positive alternative to violence through equipping out of school youth with vocational and business skills to increase their employ-ability and start businesses so as to positively contribute to their community transformation.                                                                                                                                                                                                            

3. Communities for peace is focused on raising awareness through community dialogues, radio talk shows and advocacy campaigns on issues of violence, rights of children and gender parity, we strongly believe knowledge is power and catalyst to positive behavioral and social change.

Major Annual Events

​

1. Youth in Business Summit annually brings together prospective/active youth entrepreneurs and business leaders/consultants/companies across Uganda and East Africa for a day of business training, group mentorship, networking and exhibition of their business and innovation. Since 2012 NVPU continues to host this event which has impacted over 2000 youth entrepreneurs to start and grow their businesses and consequently become peace change agents in their communities.                                                                                                       

2. Schools for Peace Summit is a gathering of student leaders from Peace club network established in our various partner schools. The inaugural event was launched in 2019 and will take place annually. The purpose of this convention is to empower student with leadership skills and inspire to become positive change agents in their schools.                                                                                                                               

3. International Day of Nonviolence is observed world over on 2 October every year, at The Non-Violence Project Uganda, we adopted this day in 2018 and since then we observe this day to promote a culture of peace and nonviolence, we mobilize youth in schools and communities for acts of community service in addition to raising awareness on violence issues and peace building.

Our Impact

• 1,406 Teachers trained as trainers in Schools for Peace program

• 17,882 Students equipped with knowledge on how to solve conflicts peacefully

• 2,000 Youth empowered with Entrepreneurship skills

• 123 Youth and Women equipped with Vocational skills (Soap making, Paper bag, Tailoring, hair dressing)

• 150 Children access to primary school education

• 36% Reduction of Violence incidences in 35 partner schools 2019

• 26% Reduction of Violence incidences in 63 partner schools 2018
